About Vadell…

Real name Seth Glasgow, Vadell Gabriel is a self-taught composer, songwriter, producer, and recording artist. Raised in both Halifax and Dartmouth in Nova Scotia, much of his output can be defined as “Nerd Jack Swing”, a combination of new jack swing, chiptune, boom-bap, and fandom into a geeky, but slick and funky package with touches of nostalgia. Starting out at fifteen years old in 2010, Gabriel would create two demo releases, before eventually releasing his first instrumental album, Timbits, to wide praise. Since then, he’s created music for video games, comics, and animations; along with releasing his own albums, all to critical acclaim.

Though mainly a rapper, Gabriel’s production takes inspiration from classic R&B and gospel acts like Michael Jackson, the Winans family, Quincy Jones, Dynamic Twins, and Teddy Riley; as well as video game music pioneers like Yuzo Koshiro, Masato Nakamura, and Koji Kondo; and his songwriting pays homage to greats such as Rakim, Nas, Mathematik, Will Smith, and LL Cool J. He’s also worked with artists and fellow producers such as DJ Chidow, Yangsta, Ryako, Mayaya, Negro Justice, and Daan Demmers, to name a few.
